Know The Secrets of How To Make Yummy Oatmeal Cookies

cookesA few years back, oatmeal was considered to be the meal for poor men. But recent decades have witnessed its successful entry into almost every American kitchen. Oatmeal cookies are undoubtedly one of the most easiest options available among the cookies preferred during breakfasts or tea parties. Though it contains a long list of ingredients that too in the correct measurement, the procedure involved is quite simple. These cookies can be cooked in a number of variations, you can stuff it with whatever you want, starting from nuts, raisins, chocolate chips to rum flavorings. The list of ingredients that follow next is sufficient to yield 5 dozen, 2 inch cookies.

Ingredients:

  • flour – 2 cups
  • baking powder – 1 teaspoon
  • baking soda – half teaspoon
  • cinnamon – 2 teaspoons
  • butter – 1 1/3 cups
  • sugar – 1 ¼ cups
  • packed brown sugar – ¾ cup
  • eggs – 2
  • vanilla – 1 teaspoon
  • fast cooking oats – 2 ½ cups
  • nuts – 1 cup
  • raisins – ¾ cup

Apart from these food stuffs, you will require a large bowl, whisk, electric mixer to blend the ingredients well and ungreased cookie sheets.

Procedure:

  • Preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a large bowl and add dry ingredients like flour, cinnamon, baking soda and baking powder. Either mix then properly with a fork or you can even whisk them to blend them into a smooth mixture.
  • Cream the sugar and butter together in an electric mixer. Add the eggs one by one to this mixture and blend them well to form a fluffy mass.
  • Then add vanilla extract to this mixer and continue the blending process. Add oatmeal to the already mixed dry ingredients and form a lump of oats and flour. All these ingredients have to be passed onto the mixing bowl in the fluffy mass of egg and butter. Blend all the ingredients well in the electric mixer for almost 2 minute, till they form a thick mixture. Add nuts and raisins to it.
  • Drop a spoonful of this prepared mixture on the ungreased cookie sheets. Bake the cookies in the oven that has been preheated for 10-12 minutes. It will render a perfect brownish tinge around the edges of the cookies. This time span is applicable for making tender cookies.
  • For a more crispier bite bake the cookies for 14 minutes. The bottom of the cookies will turn dark brown and crunchier.

As soon as they cool down, they will develop the perfect shape that oatmeal cookies should have with that engaging aroma and delicious flavor.
